Clinical & Interventional Cardiology
Clinical and interventional Cardiology is the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the heart and surrounding blood vessels. Some of those conditions include: Coronary Artery Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, Endocarditis and Pericarditis.
Vascular Medicine
Vascular medicine focuses on diagnosis and treatment of circulatory problems within the blood vessels, notably the arteries, veins, and lymphatic system. Common diseases include peripheral artery disease, lymphedema, and carotid artery stenosis.
TAVR Procedure
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a procedure to replace an aortic valve that is narrowed and doesn't open fully. The aortic valve is between the left lower heart chamber and the body's main artery. Narrowing of the aortic valve is called aortic valve stenosis. The valve problem blocks or slows blood flow from the heart to the body. TAVR is minimally invasive, which means it uses smaller incisions than open-heart valve surgery. It may be an option for people who can't have heart surgery to replace the aortic valve
TMVR Procedure
Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair (TMVR) is a minimally invasive structural heart disease treatment to replace a damaged mitral valve without open-heart surgery. A flexible, hollow tube (catheter) is inserted through a blood vessel to reach the heart and replace the mitral valve.
Nuclear Stress Test
A nuclear stress test is an imaging test that shows how blood goes to the heart at rest and during exercise. It uses a small amount of radioactive material, called a tracer or radiotracer. The substance is given by IV. An imaging machine takes pictures of how the tracer moves through the heart arteries. This helps find areas of poor blood flow or damage in the heart. A nuclear stress test is one of several types of stress tests. It may be done after a regular exercise stress test, or it may be the first stress test used. If you have coronary artery disease, a nuclear stress test can help your health care provider learn your risk of a heart attack or other heart event.
EKG Testing
An electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) uses temporary electrodes on your chest and limbs to monitor, track and document your heart’s electrical activity (which controls your heartbeats) for diagnostic purposes. A computer translates the information into a wave pattern that we can interpret. This is a quick, noninvasive test that doesn’t hurt. You can get an EKG while lying down and resting or while you’re exercising as part of a stress test.
